Spider-Man 4 : The Amazing Spider-Man Review

Marvel's Comic's Spider-man is one superhero, who kids have looked up to all their lives. Even filmmakers struck gold umpteen times at the box office, making films on genetically altered masked man. A newer version of Stan Lee's superhero makes his way on to the big screen yet again as The Amazing Spider-Man,directed by Mark Webb. Andrew Garfield replaces Tobey Maguire in the field role and impresses in his innocent yet tough avatar . The film is set in contemporary times and marks the journey of a teenage Peter Parker, an unpopular guy at high school. Peter is a genius, with strong inclination towards science, especially genetics . As a child, he is abondoned by his parents, which now become his worst nightmare.
The movie opens with little Peter playing hide-and-seek with his dad, when suddenly his parents decide it is time to send the young boy to Aunt May and Uncle Ben's place forever. Peter grows up as a normal young boy , unaware and unsure of why his parents gave him up as a kid. Now a teenager, Peter has problems adjusting in school, where he is often bullied by other guys. He adores a classmate Gwen Stacy, but is unable to take a step further to ask her out. Life goes on at a regular pace for this boy genius, until he discovers a briefcase belonging to his dad.
Peter secretly opens it up to find skeletons from the past. He learns that his dad, a scientist, was working on the theory regeneration with Dr. Curt Connors. Peter comes in contact with Dr. Connors at a summer internship program and the young genius is immediately taken under Connors wings. While working in the lab, Peter is accidentally bitten by a genetically engineered spider and then on begins his quest to find the truth.
Peter discovers he has powers similar to those of a Spider and so he spends his time polishing his new found skills and making them even better with each passing day . Meanwhile, Dr. Connors, an amputee himself, uses his regeneration theory on himself and behold, his experiment turns him into a giant lizard., and now Connors' dream of a 'World Without Weakness' seems to be coming true. Does Spidey foil his plan or does he? Find out !
Spider-Man's story has been hammered into our heads since the immemorial; so another rehashed version of it does not make sense! May be a fourth part to the already successful franchise would have been better.
Andrew Garfield as the new Spidey is super cute. When the promos did the rounds on TV, Tobey was greatly missed in the great role, but Garfield leaves no stone unturned to make his version of Spider-Man better. A social outcast by day and Spider-Man saying the world by night, is well brought to life by the youngster, who was last seen in The Social Network . Emma Stone steps into Kristen Dunst's shoes, but has nothing much to do.Irrfan Khan hardly gets to showcase his talent.
As for the technical part, the actual fun begins post-interval, when Spidey finally dons is masked red and blue outfit. the first part is all about Peter Parker searching for his past; while post-interval, it is the Spider-Man and Spider-Man only! The special effects are awe-inspiring no doubt, but fail to generate that adrenaline rush, expected of such movies. However, Spider-Man's antics towards the climax are worth a watch.
Mark Webb does all he he can do to make his version of Spider-Man's gripping, but it is Tobey Maguire's portrayal that the firmly etched in the minds of the previous version, but still manages to spin quite a powerful magic.
